So I had this move to a joint in which I was told that the wi-fi would be availble, so I ended up deleting a bunch of network connections, and unfortunately deleted my LAN connection (brutally open failure in Windows). (new place didn't have a wi-fi modem, so I hooked into Cu) This was the start of a much more involved problem. Since flashing the BIOS didn't have any effect on that system, I figured to re-write my OS (Win XP Pro), so I copied over everything from both partitions to separate folders on one of my SATA drives. When I re-partitioned my Primary IDE and reloaded my OS, I didn't see the LAN either. I then figured to go all out, pull my tower out of the closet, and reconfigure the system on my Asus K8N as opposed to the Biostar micro ATX (whatever the model was). When I got it all hooked up, on a LAN network and an OS which couldn't have been affected, my 2 SATA drives (300 Gig a piece) were only picked up as 126 Gigs each, Active, Healthy, and not readable or openable by my system. This poses a serious problem since it's all to lose if I lose these drives.
<The last time this happened, I ended up accidentally re-forming my WAV library which was mostly a BUNCH of buying/selling with all 3 Amoeba Records, although indexed (for the most part), it was all lost.....>
Now, my previous OS, all my software installs, documents (crucial one's), and so much more are at the peril of what "SATA problems" on google accounts for ~34,000 threads on such....., and I'm about to lose it. The past two weeks have been an ugly downward spiral I never want to deal with again. What I have tried to do, which shouldn't do serious harm is changing the drive paths back to the previously known paths as "Q" and "Z". I'm not planning on doing a damn thing, since the OS which recognized the drives is null, actually, I have another working OS, but...... I'll cut it here, please help if you've got anything solid for me to work with. I need to get both SATA's online with the data intact in order to move forward. It hurts, but maybe that's how we know we're livin'. Thanks in advance.

Re: Serious Problems.....
Sun, July 15, 2007 - 10:51 AMMy correction: Both SATA drives show 128Gigs and another 151GB or so that it sees as "unallocated". Has anyone had this problem mounting a SATA? What were two fully functional working drives on one system, is now totally whack. One, it even wants to format for me, which is how I made a mistake several months ago in doing so and killing my WAV library. If I do this again on either drive, I'll lose ~8 years of work and data. I need some pro advice or I'm deaf, dumb, and blind all over again. Yikes! -

Re: Serious Problems.....
Sun, July 15, 2007 - 9:23 PMI'm pretty sure you need to update your copy of WinXP pro. I have a vague recollection of XP SP1 not recognizing drives over 150GBs. Check for updates and download 'em all. Then try plugging in your SATA's and see what the volume recognition is.
